Thoroughly Modern Millie.

It was one of those sultry summers evening’s at Oxford’s New Theatre, the audience was steaming with anticipation at seeing the hit comic musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.

It’s a thoroughly delightful production and kidding satire about an ambitious girl from Kansas seeking to make a fortune in New York by marrying her boss. In many ways it is a classic American “rags to riches” story. However, like in the Wizard of Oz film, our heroine Millie Delmont (played by Hannah Veale) ambitions are beset by problems like uncooperative bosses failed to see her charms, the unwanted attentions of Jimmy Smith (Alex Williams was superb as the playboy millionaire playing the lad about town) and the threat of being kidnapped and sent to the orient by Mrs Mears (Chinila Medan played a spectacular villainess).
