Oxford Playhouse pantomime – ALADDIN

Friday 30 November 2007 – Sunday 13 January 2008

The Playhouse is proud to announce the cast of this year’s Oxford Playhouse pantomime – ALADDIN, directed by former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan. First up, taking centre stage will be Michael Steedon as Aladdin. Having trained at Bird College of Dance and Theatre Performance, Michael is fully prepared for the magical adventure that awaits him at the Playhouse this festive period!

The beautiful Princess Jasmine, and Aladdin’s beau, will be played by Charlotte Warren who returns to the Playhouse after she appeared as Alice Fitzwarren in Dick Whittington – The Panto! last year.  In the past year Charlotte has appeared at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, London, in both The Boy Friend and Lady Be Good. Also returning to the Playhouse for a second year of panto-fun, will be last year’s Oxford Playhouse Dame Sarah the Cook, Simon Green, back to play this year’s ‘absolutely gorgeous’ Widow Twankey.  Fraser Collins will be the ‘geni-us’ Genie of the lamp. Most recently Fraser has appeared in the role of Scar in The Legend Of The Lion King in Disneyland Paris and last year he took the role of the Genie in the Eastbourne Theatres production of Aladdin.  The Emperor of China will be played by Michael Remick, whose extensive career in the theatre includes roles in The Taming Of The Shrew, An Inspector Calls, Mack and Mabel, Piaf and Godspell at Nottingham Playhouse and most recently Moon Landing at Derby Playhouse, Promises, Promises at Sheffield Theatres, and Alfie at Watford Palace.  Also appearing in ALADDIN at Oxford Playhouse this panto-season will be Howard Gossington, taking on the role of Wishie Washie and Miles Western as the evil Abanazer.  The cast will be joined by an ensemble made up of Lizzie Franklin (Slave of the Ring), Josh Capper (Ping), Craig Painting (Pong) and Emily Whitehead (Dance Captain).  The Oxford Playhouse production of ALADDIN runs from Friday 30 November 2007 – Sunday 13 January 2008.  Tickets are available from the Box Office on 01865 305305 or online at http://www.oxfordplayhouse.com
