Did you see that Oxford’s Parks Department has been awarded the Green Flag for several of the parks it runs? see http://www.oxfordprospect.co.uk/oxfordnews.htm
I see Oxford City Council is urging tougher legislation on the issue of lap dancing see http://www.oxfordprospect.co.uk/oxfordnews.htm .I would be interested in what people think about this. The question is stricter controls an infringement of freedom to trade or our civil liberties?
Also, did you see that Magdalen College has erected a tree-like sculpture in its Bat Willow Meadow see http://www.oxfordprospect.co.uk/oxfordnews.htm. Has anyone seen it? What do people think about it?
With summer here at last, I wonder how many people will take advantage of the paddling pool in Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park see http://www.oxfordprospect.co.uk/oxfordnews.htm

15th July 2008
Chiltern Railways are urging motorists to consider car sharing to get to the station as a way of both reducing driving costs as well as helping the environment.
This comes at a time when millions of motorists are expected to be affected according to recent news that road tax reforms will increase costs for high polluting vehicles.
A typical liftshare members saves themselves £1,000 a year by sharing their empty seats so this could certainly help to take the sting out of the new reforms which, it is estimated, could result in some paying up to £245 more on their Road Tax.
Passengers can access the scheme from home or work at www.chilterncarshare.co.uk and register their journey details for free. The system will then tell them if anyone else is going in the same direction, leaving it up to them to make contact through a secure e-mail connection, and arrange to share both the journey and the costs of travel.
The software behind the system has been provided by the specialist car-sharing company, liftshare, which has established more than 900 car-sharing schemes for communities across the UK.
Recent months have already seen a dramatic increase in the number of people turning to carsharing. Why not sign up today at www.chilterncarshare.co.uk

HANNAH SAVES THE DAY FOR TWELFTH NIGHT.
Reviewed by Julia Gasper 30 June 2008
The Oxford Shakespeare Company was about to stage its new production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, one of his most uproarious comedies, when their leading actress, Claire Cordier, was carried off to hospital with appendicitis! This happened four days before the show was due to open. With amazing luck, they managed to get hold of a substitute, Hannah Boyd, who not only knows the part but was free to step in at hyper-short notice.

STARGATE ATLANTIS SERIES FOUR REVIEW

DVD Disc Box Set 20 episodes, 900 minutes of action packed drama and adventure.
INTRO TO STARGATE
Ancient Greek story tellers set the site of the lost city of Atlantis at the bottom of the sea, beyond the Straits of Gibraltar.
Today’s spinner of tales suggests another theory.
The makers behind the fourth season of popular Stargate Atlantis, itself a spin-off from a previous series Stargate-SG1, propose the theory that lost city of Atlantis was a giant space ship that left the Earth in ancient times, and flew three million light years to the Pegasus Galaxy. This giant city space ship was found thousands of years later by a team from earth, below the waters of a planet. to read more see http://www.oxfordprospect.co.uk/STARGATEATLATIS.htm
