Should Gardening be an Olympic Sport?

“Healthy living”

It is less than one year to the
London Olympics in 2012. Summer is nearly over, yet there is much still to do in
the garden, including cutting the lawn and hedges, weeding and pruning the
bushes.

Much of this gardening will include strenuous physical activities,
that an Olympic sports person would be familiar with. In a recent survey, 80%
of  Ontario chiropractors reported that working in the garden was one of the
most common sources of neck and back pain. http://www.oxfordprospect.co.uk/Should-Gardening-be-an-Olympic-Sport.html

Sir Tom Jones

Statement
Regarding Sir Tom Jones

Sir Tom was ordered by
doctors not to perform in Monte Carlo yesterday evening, due to severe
dehydration. This was extremely disappointing for Tom, the band and all
connected with the tour. This was the last date of a very successful 3 month
tour, where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high
summer heat.  There are NO heart problems, as has been reported in the
press.  http://www.oxfordprospect.co.uk/

Sir Tom wants to relay
his deep regrets for causing disappointment and inconvenience to all who would
have come to enjoy his show last night. He thanks everyone for their
understanding and support, and hopes to see the fans in Monte Carlo again
soon.

All change at Oxford’s park and rides

Change
of Management Arrangements for City Park and Rides
“Oxford
Park and Ride”

Budget
pressures faced by Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council have led
to changes in the way the city’s Park and Ride services are to be
delivered.

Three years ago Oxfordshire County Council took over the
running of Oxford City Council’s three Park and Ride sites – Peartree, Redbridge
and Seacourt – subsidising the City Council’s costs and loss of
income

Budget pressures mean that this subsidy, approximately £1million
pounds, can no longer be afforded by the County Council. As a consequence these
three Park and Ride sites in the City will return to the management of the City
Council.
Councillor Bob Price, Leader of Oxford City Council, says: “It has
always been the City Council’s aspiration to provide a free Park and Ride
service for people coming into the city.

“More people have been using the
Park and Ride sites and fewer people have been driving into the city centre in
the last three years. This has helped reduce congestion and made the city centre
a more pleasant environment.” https://oxfordprospect.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=post
