Art and Culture Are at Home at Barceló Hotel Oxford

The Barceló Oxford Hotel, one of the most stylish places to stay in the city, is investing in Arts and Culture.

Oxford Inspires is pleased to announce the hotel has become its 20th Corporate Member for 2008/09. The 168-room Barceló Oxford Hotel is conveniently located just off the Wolvercote Roundabout in North Oxford, and features extensive meetings facilities, free parking and a lively lounge.  In addition to their recently acquired 20 UK hotels, Barceló’s 160 Hotels and Resorts can be found in sixteen countries and make an ideal destination for business or leisure travel.

Recently one of the region’s well know hoteliers and hospitality figures – Cormac O’Hara joined the hotel as the new General Manager and says, “We believe in the difference the arts makes to a vibrant and thriving community, that’s why we have decided to not only support Oxford Inspires but also to sponsor the Arts and Business Person of the Year Award for 2008.”  The award recognises a business person that has added outstanding benefit to an arts organisation through transfer of skills, knowledge, inspiration and strategic direction. The award recognises the best of corporate and cultural collaborations. This year the winners will be announced to 300 of the region’s top arts and business decision-makers by ITV Thames Valley presenter, Hannah Shellswell, at a glamorous black tie ceremony to be held at BMW Group Plant Oxford, on 17th June 2008.

Kathelene Weiss of Oxford Inspires says, “We are thrilled that Barceló would take the opportunity of its recent arrival in Oxford to demonstrate its support of our dynamic culture.  This shows their commitment to our city.”

Oxford Inspires is a voice for arts and culture in Oxfordshire. Its team are currently working in partnership to raise the profile of Oxfordshire’s cultural sector and are developing plans for a season of arts activity celebrating planet earth, a WinterLight 2008 programme and other events to take place 2009 and beyond.
