Chiltern Railways surfs to success

Chiltern Railways’ new website was awarded “Best Website” at the Communicators in Business award ceremony on Friday 23rd of May.

The prestigious awards recognise and reward the very best in business communications and Chiltern Railways faced stiff competition from other leading business websites.

Adrian Shooter, Chairman of Chiltern Railways said:

“We want to make it as easy as possible for people to access our services. So our website is easy to use and full of the information that passengers want. With separate sections for commuters, leisure and business travel, passengers can be sure that the information they get is relevant and accurate.”

 He continued:

“We’ve got lots of innovative features too. Passengers can register with our car share scheme, check the latest news about their train and even get a weather forecast for the Chiltern station of their choice. And, of course, passengers can book tickets and take advantage of our great value offers.”

 He added:

“Chiltern work hard to give passengers what they want and this is certainly what we did with the website.”

 1.       Chiltern Railways were up against Community Healthcare, Scottish Widows Advisor, Arriva Plc, Partnerships, ActionAid, Visit Britain, British Red Cross and GTC Scotland Probation.

2.      The awards were judged in two stages, stage one – more than 60 judges assessed style, substance, impact, and excellence. They also looked for a measurable impact upon overall business, which would be the huge increase in sales in our case. Stage two involved an intensive ‘judges day’, the recommended entries were judged against each other by a panel of judges drawn from different areas of expertise. The individual Class Winner was then decided.

3.       Chiltern Railways is owned by Deutsche Bahn AG and is part of DB Regio, Deutsche Bahn’s local and regional service provider.

4.       Chiltern Railways were recently awarded ‘Passenger operator of the year the 2007’ at the National Rail Awards.

5.      The Chiltern Railways new website – www.chilternrailways.co.uk – has full timetable information, as well as a summary of Chiltern Railways’ great value fares.  Tickets can also be booked online.  Passengers can also check for service information at their local staffed stations or by calling the Chiltern Railways enquiry line on 08456 005 165 (07:00hrs to 20:00hrs).

6.       Chiltern Railways has a great selection of Destination Guides on the website.  Visit www.chilternrailways.co.uk and discover what different regions have to offer.

7.       If three rail passengers travel together to a Chiltern Railways operated station in the same car at any time of the day, there is no charge for car parking!  All you need to do is simply ask the car park attendant when you arrive at our station and collect for your ‘3 go free’ voucher.
