EVENTS THROUGHOUT 2008

 

Throughout the year the RSC hosts a comprehensive events programme to appeal to audiences of all ages. This year’s events are based around the RSC’s productions of The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet and Love’s Labour’s Lost. A wide variety of events from Directors’ talks, to family treasure hunts; post-show discussions to children’s storytelling are on offer in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

 

FAMILY PROGRAMME

 

RSC Family Events are the perfect way to introduce children to the theatre. Often linked to the production on stage, these events include a range of creative activities, including story-telling, movement, dance & music. RSC Family Events are a great way to entertain kids during the summer months and at weekends.

 

FAMILY DAY – A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Saturday 31 May

A pre-show workshop for age 7+ and their parents or guardians. The session includes an introduction to the story of the play as well as an insight to the theatre making process.

The Courtyard Theatre, 10-11.30am.

£4 per adult, £2 per child plus matinee ticket.

 

STORYTELLING

Introduce your child to the magic of Shakespeare’s plays with these lively, interactive storytelling sessions on Saturday mornings from 10am-11am.

£2 per adult, £1 per child.

FAMILY WORKSHOP

Belmont Treasure Hunt

Monday 25 August

Join in the fun at the RSC’s Merchant of Venice inspired treasure hunt! Follow clues around the theatre and gardens to solve the wealthy heiress Portia’s riddle. For under 10s and their parents/carers.

Starts at the Courtyard Theatre Foyer, 10am-12noon.

£4 per adult, £2 per child.

 

 

 

DIRECTOR TALKS

Join the director of the latest RSC productions in conversation, discussing the creative choices made in the productions.

POST-SHOW TALK BACKS

Stay on after the show and put your questions to the Acting Company and members of the Creative Team.

On-stage, post performance, lasts approximately 40 minutes. Free.

SHAKESPEARE UNWRAPPED

Join members of the Creative Team and Acting Company as they demonstrate some of the skills that go into creating a production.

Suitable for ages 12+

The Courtyard Theatre. 10.30am – 11.30am.

£5 plus the cost of a matinee ticket.

Hamlet – Saturday 25 October

 

 

PLAY IN A DAY

Create a play inspired by Shakespeare’s themes and characters in just six hours.

RSC Rehearsal Rooms, Arden Street, Stratford-Upon-Avon.

10am – 4.30pm. £15.

FOR AGES 8-10 – Saturday 24 May

FOR AGES 11-14 – Saturday 26 July

FOR AGES 15-18 – Saturday 4 October

 

 

SHAKESPEARE PERFORMANCE DAYS

Practical workshops created for 16-25 year olds with members of the Ensemble, followed by a ticket for the matinee performance and a post-show discussion.
